Basic Responsibility: -
The basic
responsibility of an Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) is to ensure a competent
review
of all ethical aspects of
the project proposals received by it i n an objective manner. IECs should provide help and advice to the researchers on all aspects of the welfare
and safety of the research participants after ensuring the scientific soundness
of the proposed research .
Consequent
upon joining of the new faculty members in KCGMC Karnal, a joint Scientific
Review Committee and Institutional Ethical Committee of the Institute is hereby
constituted as follows, with immediate effect. The Committee will follow the
guidelines issued by the ICMR for reviewing of all the proposals and for all
Ethical matters, what so ever.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The
basic responsibility of an Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) is to ensure a

1. To protect the dignity, rights and wellbeing
of the potential research participants.

To ensure that universal ethical values and international scientific standards
are expressed in terms of local community values and customs.
3.
To assist in the development and the education of a research community
responsive to local health care requirements.

Consequent to joining of new faculty members the Pharmacovigilance Committee of the Institute circulated vide letter no. KCGMC/Acad/2016/19081 dated 18/11/2016 is hereby reconstituted as under. The broad goal of the committee will be create general awareness about the need of indentifying and reporting Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR), amongst all sections of health care provider (doctors, nurses, pharmacists students, service providers) of the Kalpana Chawla Govt. Medical College, and to pick and identify ADR occurring in patients admitted and to report it to appropriate authorities.

Objectives: -
To generate awareness about ADR’s among health care providers and students of the institute.
To pick up ADR’s occurring in the patients admitted to the hospital and to report the same to the appropriate authorities i.e. National Pharmacovigilance Centre.
To carry out causality analysis of ADR’s.
To undertake scientific and research activities pertaining to ADR’s
To make efforts to minimize the chances of ADR’s and thereby make drug therapy safer and rational.
To take up activities to strengthen the ongoing National Pharmacovigilance Programme.
Tenure of the Committee: -
The initial tenure of the committee will be for a period of two year from 10/03/2018 to 09/03/2020. The committee will be reconstituted after two year.
Scope of the Committee: -
The committee shall meet once in 3 months. The committee shall be responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring of various activities of Pharamacovigilance.
Roles: -
Chairman: -
Will chair and conduct all meetings and will function as administrative head of the committees.
Convener: -
Shall be responsible for arranging meetings and conducting activities with the help of Co-Convener . He will also chair the meeting is absence of the chairman.
Co-Convener: -
Shall assist the convener and co-ordinate with the Member Secretary and the members for smooth functioning of the committee.
Member Secretary: -
The member secretary will play the pivotal role and shall undertake the following activities to help the convener: -
Prepare the agenda of the meeting and send in advance to the members.
Arrange the meeting, write minutes, circulate and document the same.
Organize the awareness generation program.
Co-ordinate the ADR’s collection and reporting to the appropriate authorities.
Carry out causality assessment.
Carry out any other task assigned by the committee.
Members: -
They will primarily work as subject experts and will be directly responsible for the reporting of ADR’s occurring in areas under their control and also in allied specialties. They will also do mentoring of the young faculty/ resident doctors/ students in the area of ADR’s. They will give suggestions for the better and effective functioning of the committee and shall work as facilitators.
In compliance of the orders of University Grants Commission, New Delhi to ensure safety and security of girls and women in particular and of the entire youth in general on the campuses of institutions of higher learning, it has been decided that the complaints regarding sexual harassment, if any can be forwarded at the email- [email protected] or through post. The committee constituted for this purpose will deal all such complaints. The complainant should clearly mention his/her Name, College, Course, Session, Roll No., Contact address and Contact number.
